Obituary

Violet Weems German, was born March 10, 1912 to Lila Queen and William Henry Weems in Baltimore, Maryland. She was one of eleven children. Violet's purpose in life came to her as a request from her dying mother in the words ''take care of your father, Papa and your brothers and sister'' Eugene, Helen, Vernon, Theodore and Leo. She fillfilled her purpose above and beyond because she was the last of Lula and William Henry Weem's children. On February 14, 2007, Violet Weems German left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Violet lived a good life. She lived a long life. Thanks be to God for her life. She was formally educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and was spirtually educated in John Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated and faithful member for over 90 years. Violet loved and suppported her church, and her church loved and supported her. Always caring for others, Violet became employed as a health aide for the terminally ill early in her work life. With additional schooling and training she advanced to administrative duties and dietary services. She became employed at Wyman Park Public Health System for the State of Maryland. She retired with over 30 years of exceptional service. Violet met and later married James E. German and was blessed with 40 years of togetherness. He proceded her in death in 1978. There were no children from that union but Aunt Violet embraced the children of her siblings with much love and support. Aunt Violet loved life. She enjoyed traveling the country, entertaining family and friends and also enjoyed a good joke or funny story. She loved good music especially hymns and spirituals. As quiet as it was kept, she had a strong, beautiful alto voice and loved to sing. Though there was a fun side to Aunt Vi, she also had a serious one. She became politically active in her city and served as a voting judge for several years. Her love of community led her to hold various offices in the Druid Lake Community Association. Violet played an important part in assisting and supporting her husband with his work in the community. As a result a small park was dedicated in honor of her husband James because of his commitment to improving their community. During the 1960's, Violet became active with Queen of Sheba Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Stars, Prince Hall Affiliated, where she held various offices. But the position she was most proud of was Worthy Matron. In 2004, a banquet was held in her honor for being one of the oldest living member of Queen of Sheba Chapter #3. To know her was to love her. She was a friend to all that crosssed her path. She cherished special friendships from her neighborhood and church, especially Mary and George, Parham, Sarah, Parker, Lynette, Edelle, Martha Mitchell and Geneva. Aunt Violet is gone but never forgotten. She leaves to cherish her momory two loving, devoted and care giving nieces, Pastor Earleen Henderson and Bernessa Jordan; two nephews, Henry and Leo Weems; other nieces and cousins, great and great great nieces and nephews as well as church family and friends.
