VIOLET INEZ SPENCE was born on March 26, 1935 in Gooseland County, Virginia to Grace Thaniel and Ollie Thaniel. She received her education in public schools in Virginia. She then met Brantley Spence (whom served in the U.S. Army for many years). Shortly thereafter, they joined in Holy Matrimony in 1956.
After working many years at Rosewood State Hospital, Violet became a house wife for several years. Violet loved the Lord and she showed it. She joined New Shiloh Baptist Church in 1976, under the leadership of Dr. Harold A. Carter Sr. Shortly thereafter, she was Ordained as a Reverend.
On March 26, 1995, Violet received a Certificate for being a Christian Evangelist. In 1997, Violet had a stroke and became paralyzed, but she did not let that stop her from Serving the Lord or enjoying her precious moments with family and friends. She was known for having a kind and loving heart but also stern.
"No Weapon formed against me shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17) was Violet's favorite saying.
On December 10, 2001, Violet received a Plaque at New Shiloh Baptist Church for becoming the First Womal1 Preacher in a determined ministry. Over the years, Violet became ill. However, she still pressed her way to serve the Lord at New Shiloh. Her love for the Lord grew day by day.
