VIOLET ANN KELLY WALLACE was born March 5, 1920 to Edward and Elizabeth Kelly in Baltimore, MD. She died peacefully at home in Columbia, MD on September 3, 2015. Though she was the oldest of 5 children, she was preceded in death by Melissa Sterling, Clarice McCalla, Sara Lide and James Kelly. On April 20, 1939, she was joined in holy matrimony to James Albert Wallace of Baltimore, MD. Their union lasted 48 years until his death on January 1, 1988. Violet and J ames (better known as Albert) were blessed with three children: Albert James Wallace, Violet Annette Baxter, and Karen Elizabeth McCoy. Violet was educated in the Baltimore City school system graduating from Douglass High School in 1938. She continued her education at Cortez Peters Business School. She started her work life as a typist for Mutual Benefit Society of Baltimore City. She worked many years at Maryland Glass Corporation, but retired from the Social Security Administration in 1982. Violet had been a member of Union Baptist Church for over 60 years. She served in several capacities including President of the Marie Francis Circle and member of the Board of Deaconesses. She briefly attended Immanuel's Church in Silver Spring, MD where she served as a deaconess and earned several certificates from Immanuel's School of the Bible. She became a born again Christian and filled with the Holy Spirit while attending an Apostle Fred Price conference in 1988. Violet returned to her church home, Union, where she remained until her death. She was honored during the church's Nonagenarian's Celebration in 2014.
