Simmons
September 30, 1944 – November 2, 2018
Virginia Mae Simmons (nee: Bruton) was born September 30,
1944, in Alamar, North Carolina, and raised in Baltimore,
Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Frank Bruton, Sr.
and the late Marie Virginia Palmer (nee: Jones) formerly Bruton.
She departed this life and went to be with our Lord and Savior on
November 2,2018, after a lengthy illness.
Virginia received her education in the Baltimore City Public
School System and later worked in the Department of
Education until she retired after twenty-seven years.
During her teenage years, she met her teenage sweetheart,
Sampson C. Simmons, Sr. and they married on June 25, 1960.
They both spent fifty- eight years of holy matrimony and out
of the reunion they had four children, Maria, Sampson, Jr., Eric,
Sr. and Veronica.
Virginia Mae, she was affectionately called "Genny Mae"
loved to cook and was well-known for her potato salad.
She loved to do crafts, and she enjoyed crocheting.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
great grandmother and god-mother. She was also the
shepherd of her cousins, and she made sure they were
well attended.
In
passing she leaves: Her devoted husband, Sampson C.
Simmons Sr.; two daughters, Maria and Veronica; two sons,
Sampson Jr., and Eric Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Rosalind;
three sisters, Lillie Florence, Vanessa and the
late Lenora; three brothers, Arnold, Frank Jr., and Malcolm;
two sisters-in- law, Violet and Melinda; three brothers-in-law,
Edward Sr., Arundell and Joseph; seven grandchildren,
Anthony Jr., Eric Jr., and wife Demetria, Corey, Shawmickia,
Simone, Julian and Tyler; five great-grandchildren,
Shennell, Eric III, Rayne, Katie and Kaleb; one goddaughter,
Natalie; devoted and loving friend, Corine Price; special
daughters, Patricia Eads and Bernnadette Evans; special
sons, Tyrone Wallace, and Ronald Brown;
special grandchildren, Donald Jr., Kevin, Kevrica,
Carmekia,and the late Keon Brooks, and a host of other
relatives and friends.
