Vivian Demorris Miles, age of sixty-eight, the youngest girl of six children, was born to the late Lula Mae and Grady Melvin on February 17, 1943. God sent His angels to summon Vivian to her eternal rest on November 4, 2011 at 12:38 p.m. Vivian received her education at Bladen Central High School in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. She married the late Edward Miles on June 30, 1985. Vivian retired from the Banking industry and later work at Saks Fifth Avenue. She received her Christian experience at Christian Memorial Church where she was an active member and dedicated usher marching down the aisle as no other could. She was also a member of the Ebony Queens Woman's group. Vivian made the best sweet potato pie and banana pudding in Baltimore. She loved attending family events, traveling and line dancing. Known for her jazzy style of dressing, Vivian always wore a flower on her lapel. She also enjoyed pampering herself with manicures and trips to the salon. Vivian touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity. Her family, neighbors, co-workers and a host of friends will miss her dearly. Vivian leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory; five children, Tyrone Melvin, Donald Thomas, Yvette Thomas, Sherron Thomas and Arneeta Dent; sons-in-law, Ron Dent and Franklin Jones; daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Poore; twenty-two grandchildren, Tyese, Shawana, Ricky, Jamal, Dwight, Natalia, Davon, Kevin, Twinetta, Britany, John, Brandon, Damion, Taron, Ravin, Tralin, Tysin, Corey, Ashley, Maya, Brittany and Taylor; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Stanford Melvin; sister, Doris Barton two brothers and one sister preceded her in death, James Melvin, Edward Melvin and Edna Mae Purdie; brother-in-law, Dexter Purdie; sister-in-law, Irma Melvin; special friends, Eilver Privette Dottie of fiftyone years, Richard A. Pope, Sr. and Charles Hance, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
