IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vodie
Overbey
October 9, 1942 – February 20, 2021
Vodie (Doley/Sunshine) Overbey, daughter of the late Sam and Anna Jefferson, was born on October 9, 1942 in Littleton, NC. She departed this earthly life and entered into a sweet Home of eternity on February 20, 2021. Vodie gave her life to the LORD at an early age and joined St. Luke Baptist Church. Later years she became a faithful member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she lived a Christian life until she gained her wings. Vodie received her education in the North Carolina public school system. She worked for many years at Abacus Security, Loving Homes Nursing, Black & Decker, Procter & Gamble, and Singers Bagels, Her passion was taking care of family members (young and old) and running the James & Sunshine Consignment Shop where she fixed TVs, radios, stoves, microwaves and pretty much anything you put in front of her. Upon her retirement, she began to take care of her grand kids, great grands and anybody else's kids. She just had a heart of gold. All you had to do was drop them off announced or unannounced and she would take over from there. All the kids called her Grand Ma. All the neighbors called her Sunshine's Daycare because she had so many kids at her house. In 1974, Vodie married the love of her life James Overbey Sr., who preceded her in death. Vodie had so many people in her life that she loved and they loved her in return. She loved to talk junk to her family and friends out of love and fun, but she would fuss you out and tell you just how she felt in a minute. There was never a dull moment when you were with her. She would always say Kat and Troy threw away anything they get their hands on every chance they could and if something went missing, oh Yeah! they were blamed. Doley loved listening to gospel music and reading her Bible daily while at the kitchen table and of course her grand children running around and playing. Whenever you called there was always a child with her. She loved and cherished all of her siblings. Twelve of them proceeded her in death: They were Rebecca Hockaday, Ethel Laster, Retha Hill, Ellen Jones, Alice Jefferson, Samuel Jefferson, Ulysses Watson, Willie Watson, Cleveland Harris, Thomas Jefferson Sr., Marion Edmonds and Billy Watson. Her son William Price, daughter Angela Price and grandchildren William Woodrup (Butt), Andre Adams and great grand Dashawn Adams preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memories are her Children; Troy Price Sr., Kathy Reynolds (Tyrone Sr), Brenda Harris (Keith), Debra Overbey, Charlene Flowers (Rinnoris), Dwayne Overbey (Ramona), James Overbey Jr. (Wanda), Grandchildren; Shettirea Robinson (Michael), Troy Price Jr., Tyrone, Devonta, Tyrenia , Keisha, Trevor, (Sheri), Chanell, Shamia, Shanequa, Sterling, Damon Jr., DeAngela, Daquan, Davon, and Jasmine; many grand and great grandchildren which she loved dearly; two Sisters Maggie Caple and Merdis Patterson; one Brother Grady Jefferson Sr; one adopted Brother Curtis Alston; six sister-in-law's; four brother-in-law's; four Special Friends, Jessie, Roseland, Jackie and Patricia; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who all Love her dearly.
