On Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, Vontilear G. Kelson answered the call to eternal rest. At last, no more suffering aches or pains. "Thank God, I am Free!" Vontilear aka "Von ", was born November 20, 1942 to James Parker and Vontilear Kelson. She was a musician, cab driver, caterer, cook and restaurant owner. She was a jazz fanatic, die hard Ravens and Orioles fan and enjoyed remodeling her home. One of her most significant accomplish- ments was her altruistic role as a supportive family member. She provided sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends with copious re- sources. She also provided them with long lectures concerning responsibilities and productivity. She believed in fostering ability, reinforcing strengths, and being the primary mediator in resolve family crisis. Yon is remembered for her motivation and discipline. Her tough love philosophy was demonstrated in her adamant commitment to helping others. Vontilear believed the mind of the young generation shapes the future. That's why she and her life partner Arlean Wise took great pleasure in raising Clayton Thomas Jr., Vohn Kelson Thomas, and Troy Wise. Her kindness also extended to her favorite pets. She raised three of "man's best friends." She taught us that animals also require diligence and care. She encouraged us to respect all creatures on earth. A righteous person regards the life of their animals (Proverbs 12: 10). Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. (Matthew 6:26). She admitted her faith in the heavenly maker of our soul. She professes the existence and power of the supreme creator. Vontilear conversations were reminiscence of wise fables and street- knowledge. Her copious anecdotes were filled with life lessons and wisdom. She talked about her struggles and of her life challenges. These obstacles included education, health, poverty, morality, and spirituality. She encouraged others not to follow, but to be leaders. That's why her charitable love she supplied was in abundance. She gave financially without expecting recompense. She unselfishly facilitated in raising many of the young and several old. Yon gave from the bottom of her heart. (Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity vaunted not itself .. Charity never fails.) Preceding Vontilear in death is James Parker (father), Vontilear Kelson (mother), Maurice Kelson (brother) and Donald Kelson (brother). She leaves to cherish her memories: life partner, Arlean Wise, the daughter and sons she raised, Donna Kelson Robinson, Clayton Thomas Jr., Vohn Kelson Thomas and Troy Wise; her brother, Michael Kelson; sister, Margo Kelson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends that were dear to her heart. Vontilear's fun loving spirit and giving heart touched all whom came in contact with her. She will be greatly missed and we pray our heavenly father has provided a charitable home for her soul to rest in peace. Memorial Service Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
