Walter M. Hussey, son of the late Marie Malone, raised by the late Albert and Emma Hussey, was born February 4, 1925 in Edgecomb County, and departed this life on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Future Care Nursing Home, Baltimore, Maryland. He married his first love Mamie Ruth Mercer in 1950, and from that union came four children, Joseph, Marie, Ealter and LeRoy Hussey. Mamie Ruth died from complication due to childbirth in 1956. He later married Juanita Russell, and from that union came two sons, Alton and Daniel Hussey and three stepsons, David, Jamie and Kevin. He was preceded in death by both wives Mamie Ruth Mercer and Juanita Hussey; daughter Marie M. Emerson-Bey; sons, Joseph, Walter, Alton, Daniel and stepson, Kevin; sisters, Mary Belle Woods, Lula Rose Hussey-Horn; brothers, Lee Henry, William Albert, Mark and Fred Hussey; and grandson, LaVar Rashard Hussey. He leaves to cherish his precious memory; his daughter, Marjorie cobb; son, Melvin L. Hussey; two sisters, Annie Pearl Payne and Dorothy Williams; brother-in-law, roosevelt williams; son-in-law, Kenneth Cobb; three sisters-in-law, Jennie walker, saundra and Claudine; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a long-time close friend, Preacher grant of rocky Mount N.C. and a host of family and friends.
