Wanda Belinda Eley (nee Harris) ~ daughter of Catherine and the
late Booker T. Harris, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 21,
1951. She departed this life peacefully, after a lengthy struggle with
Alzheimer's.
She received her early education in the Baltimore City Public Schools,
graduating from Forest Park High School in June, 1969. Wanda attended
Morgan State University and graduated with her Bachelor's degree in
1973. It was at Forest Park that Wanda met the late Maurice Eley. Maurice and
Wanda were united in holy matrimony in August, 1973. From this union,
they had one daughter, Michelle Denise. Wanda and Maurice remained
committed to the raising of their daughter, even after their divorce.
Wanda was employed by the Federal government from 1973 until her
retirement in 2003. Throughout her career, Wanda worked in various
capacities for several different agencies throughout Texas, California and
Maryland.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Catherine Harris; her
daughter, Michelle; five grandchildren, Antwon, Kyle, Alrice, Deandre,
and Vanity; one sister, Cheryl; one brother, Glen; one sister-in-law, Anne;
three nieces, one nephew, one great niece, one great nephew and a host of
other relatives and friends.
