IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Weldon
Hamlett
July 27, 1947 – March 28, 2022
WELDON RONALD HAMLETT (RONNIE) was born on July 27, 1947 and was called to glory on
March 28, 2022. Weldon was born an only child to the late Ominus Hamlett of Semora, NC and the
late Amelia Howard-Hamlett of Elkcreek, Virginia. Both of them loved and adored him.
Weldon was born and raised in Baltimore, MD, where he received his education. Upon graduating from
Edmondson High School in 1965, he attended the University of MD Eastern Shore. He only attended
for a short time before he was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. Weldon started in Fort
Ord, California for basic training, then to go onto advanced training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and then to
Jump School in Fort Benning, Georgia and eventually became a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
After an honorable discharge, Weldon pursued a career working for the B&O Railroad. After 20 years
of service he retired and took a job at Wells Fargo as a Central Station Operator. He also worked at the
Hope Lodge as a public relations coordinator, assisting and helping others in need.
Later in life Weldon became a member of NA where he was of service on many levels. Weldon enjoyed
traveling with the people he had come to know, he liked tine dining, concerts, live plays, and playing
cards and talking crap to his opponents and was also kind and giving to anyone who may have needed
his help. On most weekends you could find him in front of the television with remote in hand watching
sports, not once ever complaining.
Weldon leaves to mourn: his caretaker, companion and life partner Donna Cook; two aunts, Mildred
Hamlett-Parker of Los Angeles, California and Edith Garland Hamlett of Semora, NC; two cousins.
Virginia Hamlett-Smith (Larry) and Aileen Taylor (Dwight); two close friends, Lilly Dorsey and William
(Billy) Partlow; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
