Obituary

Wendell Murel , son of the late Willard Murel, Sr. and Veronica R. Johnson, was born on
October 27, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on Friday, August 11, 2017 after a lengthy battle
with cancer. Wendell received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System in which he graduated from Southern High School. Also, he attended Baltimore City Community College. He was employed as a forklift operator and warehouse worker until his illness. He married Linda G. Bethune on August 1, 1992. His three children whom he loved dearly is Dineen LaVerne Pitts, Terrell Richburg and Kennita Nicole Riddick. Wendell loved the Lord and was baptized on June 7, 1992 at Pleasant Rock Baptist Church where he was a member. In his later years he attended New Psalmist Baptist Church, enjoyed reading his Bible and listening to gospel music. Also, he looked forward to attending special services at Doswell Cathedral such as the Christmas Candlelight Service and various events to support his wife. Wendell was an avid reader, phenomenal swimmer, love playing basketball, checkers and watching Law and
Order. He really enjoyed music. Wendell, his brothers, cousins, and a couple of friends had a group named
"Definition of Love," he was the lead singer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing and being at the
monthly family gatherings. He taught his girls to swim, drive and cook various dishes. Wendell was very giving
and would help anyone. While he was able he assisted the elderly by taking them to the market and doctor's
appointments. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. It was never a dull moment when they were together. There was so much laughter and the jokes he could play on them was endless and fun. Wendell loved all of his family members dearly. During his battle with cancer, he never complained, he often kept a smile, as he did throughout life. Throughout his illness, his baby girl (Nita) assisted in taking him to his appointments from 2015 through 2017 never letting down. Dineen did errands to assist during his illness. Paris gave him his last haircut. Elder Lonnie and Sister Nora Cooper kept him encouraged during visitations. Others that assisted during his time of illness included: Bruce and Jackie Chase, Dwayne Holloway, Tony Veanie, Lorraine Banks, Frank and Janice Kane and Rick Ennals. Wendell leaves to mourn: His wife, Linda; three children: Dineen Pitts (Ray), Terrell Richburg, Kennita Riddick
(Paris); six grandchildren: Joshua, Kennisha, Jada, Kenyetta, William, Jr. and Dajuan; one brother: Ronald Murel;
one Godson: Kaylin Burrell; three aunts: Dorothy Daily, Gloria Toogood and Anne Porter and one uncle: Joseph
Porter, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. His mother Veronica, father Williard, Sr. and five brothers: Tyrone, Nathaniel, Williard, Jr., Richard and Barry Murel and one sister Denise Murel-Porter preceded him in death.
