William Edward Cameron, was born in Erwin, NC on April 11, 1947 and passed away on November 5. 2012, after a brief illness of pneumonia. William Edward Cameron was the youngest son and the youngest child of the late George H. Cameron and the late Catherine Missy McNeil Cameron. " Bill " as he was affectionately called, attended Erwin Middle School in Erwin, NC. From there he transferred to Harnett High School in Dunn, NC where he graduated in 1966. Durning his high school years, he met his first sweetheart, Irene Rebecca Smith and La Wanda was born from this relationship. Bill accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He, along with his mother, father and other siblings attended Zion Wall Freewill Baptist Church in Linden, NC. As a youngster Bill was very curious and if he did not understand why or the reason for something he would not hesitate to ask questions that would amaze the listener, ie, how high is the sky or where does the road lead to. He would tease until he got you angry then he was satisfied . He gotcha! To know Bill was to love him. In the early 1970's, Bill followed his older siblings to Baltimore, Maryland. Just as his brothers before him, he worked at the Monarch Rubber Company for several years. After a period of time, he met and married Barbara Ann East Cameron. Kenneth David Cameron was born of this union. Barbara Ann East Cameron preceded her husband in death, in 2005. Bill had an independent spirit, he needed to be able to move about at his own pace. At one point he moved to Cincinnati , Ohio, got a job in an industrial plant and lived with his sister, Evelyn. He was of great support to her in assisting with her disable husband Uncle Fred . He soon returned to Baltimore where he made the decision to be part of the Diamond Independent Cab Company. Bill served this company for over twenty-one years; he was still working for this company part-time when out of God's divine mercy and wisdom He called Bill home. William Edward Cameron leaves to share hid memory: his daughter, Minister La'Wanda Leggett Reno Sr. , of Dunn, NC; his son Kenneth D. Cameron of the home; a blend of four grandchildren, Tiffany Leggett of Waldorf, MD. Reno Leggett, Jr. of Dunn, NC, Andrea Hardy Demarius and La' Tonya Leggett both of Burlington, NC; a blend of six great -grandchildren, Raven Kennedy, of Waldorf, MD., Rhyan Carpenter of Knightsdale, NC, Dy'lan Leggett and Desmond Hardy of Burlington, NC, Moriah Sneed of Bensister, Isabell Williams of Baltimore, MD. and his younger brother, Earl of Benson, NC; his remaining siblings are his four brothers and one sister; Edmond L. Cameron,, Dunn, NC; sister Evelyn C. McKinney, Cincinnati OH; Jess D. Cameron, George M. Cameron, and Ernest C. Cameron, all of Baltimore, MD.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
