Obituary

William A. Cook Sr ., was born to the late Clement and
Frances Cook on October 8, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland.
"Billy", as he was affectionately known, received his edu-
cation in the Baltimore City Public School System.

Billy accepted Christ at an early age. He loved his church
and his church family. He loved the Lord. He participated
in all church activities until his sickness a year ago, but still
attended as much he could. Billy attended the Waxter
Center during the day to continue his social life. He loved
Bingo, playing pool, playing cards, watching wrestling and
sports with son-in-law, Michael. He also enjoyed watching
horse racing and Criminal Minds with his granddaughter,
Quiana. He also enjoyed his weekly outings to the doctor,
Walmart, Dollar Tree, and Maxway. He enjoyed spending
time with his granddog Sebastian during the days he didn't
go to the Waxter Center.

As an early teen Billy started working at Pirnlico Race
Course as a hot walker and continued on to become a horse
trainer and groomer. He also owned horses at the stables.
His love for horses was immeasurable. He enjoyed taking
his children and grandchildren to the race track with him
where they would enjoy pony rides. He loved to share his
knowledge with all. He worked at different race tracks in
Maryland including Bowie, Laurel and Timonium. He also
worked with horses in Delaware Park. Unfortunately in
1994, he was in a bad accident that left him unable to work
with horses. That hurt Billy deeply but he still enjoyed
visiting the race track as much as he could. His son, Wil-
liam Jr. "Sam" also found a love for horses and picked up
the trade and continues to work with horses today.

Billy leaves to cherish fond memories: daughters Lita and
Lisa; son, William, Jr."Sam"; son-in-law, Michael; brother,
Clement, Jr. "Cookie"; sister-in-law, Alice; grandchildren,

sister Virginia, "Gennie" preceded him in death.
