IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William
Davis
March 13, 1942 – May 16, 2024
William 'Jerry" Davis, also affectionately known as "Pappy," was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina on March 13, 1942 to the late Mary and David Davis. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland as a young child and attended Baltimore City Public Schools. He was
later drafted by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran. Although he worked various jobs, he found his passion as a cement mason working for Paul J Rach, Inc. for more than 35 years. Terry was a skilled and hard worker, loving to be outside, working with his hands, never sitting down, staying busy even in his 80's.
To know Terry was to know someone who enjoyed life. He was funny and enjoyed a good laugh. Whether he was riding his motorcycle, listening to music, singing oldies but goodies, sitting on the front porch talking to his neighbors, or grilling, he was going to have a good time. He loved when people ate his food, often offering it to family and friends, but you couldn't trust if it was chicken or if you were just introduced to squirrel or rabbit. As a young man, he loved dressing up and going to cabarets and later loved going to Two Spot Bar for karaoke and time with friends. He was known for being a good dresser and always wearing a hat. Whether sporting afro; his long, slick, straight hair; or his round bald head, Terry knew he looked good.
Although firm, brief, and unapologetic, he gave great advice-the advice you did not always want, but needed to hear. He showed up for others and was always protective-in his youth with his siblings, then in later life with his own children and to those who looked to him as a father figure. He was a proud father. He loved his family and God. He was a provider and you knew he loved and cared about you, even when it was hard for him to say it. He lived a full life and has so many who cherished their time and talks with him.
William was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Joseph, John "JD," Kenneth "KD," Thomas "Ricky," Berniece, and Maryleatha. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Leroy; his children, Terry, Tonya, and Jada; his nephew-son, Keith; his grandchildren, Reginald (Katrina), Tamar (Aubrey), Terry, Destinee, and Jessica; his great
grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
