Obituary

William Louis Jelks, son of Willie Sam Jelks and the late Sallie Mae Jelks, was born November 15,1955 in Cleveland, Ohio. After a short illness he departed this life and took wings to his home in heaven on March 2, 2015 surrounded by his family in Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received his education in the Cleveland Ohio Public School System. After high school, he began his journey in 1976 by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps as Corporal Williams L. Jelks. After serving his country, he received and honorable discharge which lead him to Balti- more, Maryland. He gave his life to Christ and was Baptized at True Way Church of God in Baltimore. Louis began working for AMSAM Metal Company in Brooklyn, MD while obtaining his CDL' S as a Commercial Tractor Trailer Driver for several companies in Baltimore. He retiredfrom Jevic Transportation. Louis dedicated over 35 years as a truck driver. In 1997 Louis was United in Holy Matrimony to Angela Wright. In 2004, he became a Freemason, joining the Masonic Fraternity. "Louis" or "Bam" as he was known to family and friends and "Pop-Pop" to his grandchildren. He loved to fish and work on home improvement projects. He loved to be "Mr. Fix It". His sense of humor and comical jokes kept everyone full of happiness. He would always end a conversation with: "Okie Dokie, In a minute" as only he could say. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 18 years, Angela Jelks; five children, Christopher, Latarshia, Danielle, Cherritta and Ladonne; seven grandchildren, Shydashia, Andre, Jerrod, JaQuawn, Zariyah, Denetria and Gerald; four great grands, Hakeem, Calvin, Hope and one to arrive in October; two sisters, Jean Freeman and Tonya Madden; two brothers, Raymond Jelks (who preceded him in death) and Ernest Jelks; six sisters-in-law, Margaret, Sharon, Alice, Tammy, Shelia, and Judy; five brothers-in-law, Benny, Frank, Herman, Richard and Clarence; one godson, Bryant May; one specialfriend, Ms. Sis and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and other family andfriends.
