William A. Pitts known as "Bill" to some, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 2 at 8:31 p.m. after a lengthy illness at Stella Maris Hospice. God called him home to rest. William son of the late Henry and Mamie Pitts was born July 10, 1928 in Halifax County, North Carolina.
He completed his education at J.A. Charlone High School class of 1950 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He came to Baltimore, Maryland as a young man at the age of 22 years old. He served in the US Army for two years in 1953. He was accepted into the Mason brotherhood in 1955.
He worked for Essay as a meat cutter, where he retired, he also had multiple other jobs.
William excepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of City Temple Baptist Church in 1979 under William W. Payne and Reverend Dr. Grady A. Yeargin Jr. He served on the Usher board, feeding the homeless and Young at Heart at the church.
William leaves to mourn: a devoted wife, Magruda; three loving children, William (Max), Byron and Tiara; one daughter-in-law, Karen; one son-in-law, Farley Jackson; seven stepchildren, Antoinette Tyree, Sheila Jackson, Mary Matthew, Sandra Judd, Toney, Kevin and Zachary Miller and a host of other relatives and friends.
