William Otho Sedgwick, Sr. affectionately known as Willie, the son of the late William and Rilla Howard Sedgwick, was born on August 12, 1919 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on Friday, November 18, 2005 at home afer a lengthy illness. Willie was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public School system. He later joined the United States Army, where he served as a cook. Willie's military travel carried him to Alaska, Canada, Korea and many other places. Upon the completion of his military tour, Willie met and married Josephine Sedonia Gaither. From this union, eight children were born. Willie was employed at Harting and Son ''CW Wright'' as a truck driver and security guard. Willie was a loving caring man who rode up and down Freetown Road ten times a day. He loved driving in his green truck and later the car all day long. He helped and provided transportation for many. His hobbies included driving people around and playing the lottery. On November 18, 2005, after a long journey down life's road, Willie departed this life. He was preceded in death by his sons, William, Jr. and Larry Sedgwick. Willie leaves to cherish: devoted wife, Josephine; sons, William Thomas Gaither, Coston Sedgwick, and Paul Sedgwick; three daughters, Joann Sedgwick Jean Sedgwick and Ellen Sedgwick; two daughters-in-law, Mary Gaither and Constance Sedgwick; one brother-in-law, and four sisters-in-law. He has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. He also leaves an adopted son, Stanford Spencer who was always there for him and gave of himself unselfishly. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
