Obituary

William Earl Stokes, beloved son of Melvin Stokes and the late Almeta Stokes, was born Febuary 4, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on October 5, 2008 to be with the Lord. William received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. William did not stop with just a public school education, but continued his education in Early Childhood Development, receiving numerous certificates in this field. He also had a background in Security where he became a sergeant with numerous collar pins. William had gifted hands. He loved to eat and cook. Cooking and making flowers was a gift from God. He had no education in floral arrangements but could make a flower out of anything. He made flowers for many different occasions for everyone. His cooking was a hobby and something we all enjoyed. He was a lovely and kind-hearted person that everyone loved, known as "Butch" to all who knew him. Butch was a person that was known for helping out when or wherever he was needed. He always encouraged everyone to do their best. He always said, I'm here if you need me."" There was never a dull moment when he was around. He brought a smile and much laughter to all. He leaves to cherish his memory; his father, Melvin Stokes; stepmother, Beatrice Stokes; stepfather, Alfred Lee Sr.,; sister, Cynthia Pompey; brother, Alfred Lee Jr.,; brother-in-law, Kedick Pompey,; eight nieces, five nephews, five great-nieces, seven great-nephews, two two great - nieces or nephews on the way; favorite aunt, Linda Hamilton; godmother, Elain, devoted and faithful friend, Willie Green; best friend, Mary Fields and a host other relatives and friends.
