Obituary

On Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 5:50 p.m. WILLIAM HENRY WASHINGTON, JR. (affectionately known as "Billy" and/or "Will") quietly closed his eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep of eternity at Sinai Hospital. William was born on June 6, 1946 in Johns Hopkins Hospital, to the late William Henry Washington, Sr. and Elsie Rachel Washington. He was the oldest son. Educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools, William had a thirst for knowledge and later attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology where he received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Dental Technology in 1977. His lofty aspiration and perseverance prepared him for long-term employment with U.S. Airways. William was baptized at an early age and he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, later in life. He was taught at an early age by his parents to memorize scripture (especially Psalm 23). William lived a fruitful life by encouraging anyone who he met. He always had a "word" or "story" to share, along with great wisdom to support it. William will be fondly remembered by his family and friends, because he was filled with purpose, joy, living and giving. He was a humble man, and a person of great personal courage, who faced the problems of life without faltering and accepted the joys of life with love and appreciation. William was well respected and admired amongst his family, friends and senior community (Weinberg management and residents) where he lived. Blessed with a jovial personality, and a wonderful sense of humor, he had a gift of making people laugh and smile, even man's best friend his dog (Juicy). Loving memories will forever be cherished by: his three brothers, Savarhette, Darrell and Ulysess; three sisters, Johnetta, Vera and Altheria (sister, Tiajuana preceded him in death); one brother-in-law, Michael; nephews, Amir, Damazhae, Adlai, Wali, Quinard Sr., Jr., Lamar, Tyree, Arthur, Edward and Dwayne; nieces, Emahn, India, Trinika, Twala and Ciara (niece, Mia preceded him in death); along with a host of other relatives and special friends, Tara and Harrell.
