I s aa c Wat ts
William Glenn Wilks entered into this eternal reign May 3,
1931 in Chester, South Carolina to the late William Glenn
and Mary Wilks Glenn. He was educated in the Chester
County Public Schools graduating from high school as a
football star.
At an early age, William accepted Jesus as his personal
Savior and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church in
Chester, SC.
William worked various jobs before moving to Glen Bur-
nie, Maryland, he retired and soon began working for the
Kinneott Copper Company. Life seemed complete when he
met and married Margaret Spencer who preceded him in
death in 2014.
They soon joined and became active members of the Mount
Moriah Baptist Church. Deacon Wilks was committed in
service to the Thursday Soup Kitchen, Wednesday Night
Prayer and Saturday Morning Bible Study. He also was an
assistant Sunday School Teacher for Sunday School class
#2. He enjoyed studying the Word.
William was a hard worker therefore, after retirement he
began driving the school bus for the Baltimore Public
Schools. He enjoyed the children and it kept him busy.
William, known to his children, stepchildren, great-grand-
children and family as W.G., Willie, Dad and Granddad was
a man of strong convictions, discipline and a fervent love
for the Lord.
We believe his last thoughts on February 4th were "I have
fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept
the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righ-
teousness, which the Lord the righteous judge shall give me at
the day and not to me only, but unto all them also who love his
appearing" .
William leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Phyllis
Worthy of Virginia Beach, VA and Marsha Wingo (Edrow) of
Concord, NC; 9 stepchildren, Geraldine Harris(Emmanuael) of
Indianapolis IN, Wallace A. Spencer, Jr. (Dianne) of Free mont,
NC, Stanford J. Spencer, Jr. (deceased), Janice Akichy (de-
ceased), Jerry J. Spencer of Atlanta, GA, Danielle D. Carroll
(the late Michael), Dimecia A. Spencer, Earl J. Spencer, Ty-
ronne A. Barnard (Vemice deceased) all of Baltimore, MD,
Pamela Wilson Spencer and Debra J. Harris of Leominster,
MA. He leaves two sisters, Isamae Bowie of Crete, IL and
Helen Pegues (Ray) of Oxon, MD; two brothers, Stephen C.
Wilks of Baltimore MD and Jerry Glenn (Rose) of Valley Lee,
MD, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other
relatives and friends.
