Windell Saunders, son of the late Annie Saunders Foster and the late George Saunders, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 26, 1927 and departed this life on August 21, 2012. His only brother, George S. Saunders Beck, preceded him in death. Windell attended the Baltimore City Public School System. Windell served in the Armed Forces of the United States. after an honorable discharge from the Army, Windell was enlisted in the United States Coast Guard as a merchant seaman. After his retirement, Windell enjoyed cooking; traveling; listening to music, especially Caribbean style; playing his bongo drums; and watching western movies and TV shows. Windell leaves to cherish his fond memory; his loving wife, Gladys E.; two sisters, Sylvia McDowell and Omie Diggs; one sister-in-law, Ardena S. Dixon; two devoted caregivers and stepchildren, Marsha V. Vaden and Michael A. Robinson; five children, Gregory, Windell, Dino, Candice and Terraine Miriam; four additional stepchildren, Turhan E. Robinson Kathy, Vanessa M. Brown Robert, Marilyn V. Kelly Rodney and Donald A. Robinson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. His son, Maurice Saunders and granddaughter, Kyona Caliborne also preceded him in death.
