Winfield Edwin Hopkins, Jr. a retired Tractor trailer driver and Baker, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 7, 2017. Born September 10,1934 in Baltimore, MD, to the late Winfield Edwin Hopkins, Sr. and Mil- dred (Turner) Hopkins.
Winfield was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, until the 8th grade, he furthered his education by obtaining his GED. Later in life he went on to earn an AA degree an Accounting from the American Academy institution.
By God's Grace Winfield Walk with the Lord became an essential element in his life. He came totrust Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Ames Memorial United Methodist Church. This began a journey of knowing, growing, and thriving as a strong Christian. He went on to earn his degree in Biblical Studies from Institute of Biblical Studies in Baltimore. During this journey he served as a Lay person with Ames Memorial Church and was a member ofthe Methodist Men's Choir.
Winfield loved serving others, he would often travel to visit the sick and shut-in by sharing a word from the Lord through prayer and encouragement. Winfield was always full of love, joy, and laughter. This was demonstrated through his affection and love for his family and friends where ever he went.
In life he mastered the art of baking, driving trucks and carpentry. He loved to take things apart and put them back together. Look out Angels do not clip a wing; because he will try to find away to help God fix it. He will be missed by all especially his wife and children who loved him dearly.
Winfield leaves to celebrate his loving wife Minnie Hopkins, one son Winfield Edwin Hopkins III, seven daughters Winifred Hopkins, Deborah Greene (Levy), Brenda Gaines (Dexter), Karen Hopkins (Wayne), Winnie Hopkins, Shaqwel Hopkins and Lashawn Hopkins of Baltimore, MD. Six granddaughters, Kisha, Stacey, Shinise, Kristina, Brya, Ira; six grandsons, Winfield, Nathaniel, Keith, Wayne, Khalil, Antwon; 2 great granddaughters, Mackenzie and Egypt. Two sisters Marion Watkins (Bobby) and Ernestine Jones. One brother Leon Hopkins; four sister in laws, Lillion Hopkins, Annie Hopkins, Shirley Brayboy of Baltimore, MD, Bettie Robinson of Rocky Mount, NC, two brother in laws Clifton Doggett (Gloria) of Scotlandneck, NC and Bobby Watkins of
Baltimore, MD. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Alfred and Bernard Hopkins, one child grandson little Eddie.
