Obituary

YVONNE BROWN made her dramatic debut into the world as the younger twin of Avon Brown on April 18, 1957. Both were born to the late Zeno Brown and Irene Green in Baltimore, Maryland. Yvonne quietly and suddenly slipped away due to a lengthy illness on Febuary 14, 2013. Yvonne was introduced to the Lord at a very young age by her mother. Yvonne accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior before the age of eighteen at Triumph Church of God under the leadership of Pastor Mary L. Smith. By the 1980s, Yvonne joined in fellowship with Pentecostal Holiness Church under the leadership of Pastor Ruth L. Neal. Those who knew her intimately, would often speak of her powerful and affectionate prayer for others. No matter what course her life took, she was always known for her relationship with the Lord. Even in moments of perceived insanity, she could be found faithfully fellowshiping with the Saints of God on the corner of Fremont Avenue and Laurens Street. Yvonne was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was a gifted writer with a talent for creating stories. While in business school, Yvonne mastered the art of data entry and typing. At an early age, Yvonne was warmly welcomed in any atmosphere, having the ability to make friends wherever she went. "Sabat" or "Seal", as she was affectionately known, will be most remembered for her flawless social skills. Among her many favorite things to do in her younger years was going to "Waistline" parties with her friends in Sandtown. Seal has always been recognized and will be remembered for her class, unique sense of style and flare for fashion. She could be recognized going or coming a block away because of her distinctive walk. Along with her many different occupations, her passion was being an aide in the Baltimore City Public School System. Yvonne spent many years in Gilmor Elementary shaping and molding the lives of many children. At the end of her service at Gilmor Elementary School, she received many awards and a beautiful plaque for outstanding assistance. Yvonne will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her witty sense of humor. Because of her enormous heart, she never forsook the needs of friends confined from society. She never abandoned her friends with failing health and always availed herself to give her last. In times of trouble, she was readily available to go to war with her comrades. Sabat found great delight in spending time with her family. However, the ultimate joy of her life was the investment she made in caring for her granddaughter, Shadaya. Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Green; her father, Zeno Brown; and her twin brother, Avon Brown. Yvonne's legacy will be left to be cherished by: her daughter, Shantivia Brown and granddaughter, Shadaya Cox. Fond and loving memories of Yvonne will be cherished by those she leaves behind: three brothers, Willie, Thomas and Eugene Green; and one devoted sister with whom she had an everlasting bond, Joyce Green. She had a special relationship with her nephews, Gordon and Tony; and her niece, namesake Yvonne Brown. She also had two adopted daughters, Lisa Murphy and Nicki Owens; a devoted cousin who was like a sister to her, Rosalin Roman; a godmother, Shirley Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. She also leaves loyal friends, Tan Dorsey, Jackie Blocker, Glenda Mack, Biff Cason and Kevin Cook. From the heart of Yvonne Brown, she would like to take the time to honor the following families for their unconditional love, patience and support over the years, the Dean family, the Holland family, the Dunaway family, the Littlejohn family and the Herring family.
