Yvonne Antionette Thomas, the beloved daughter of the late Sonia Antionette Hunter Thomas ani Carmen Thomas Raheem was born on March 13, 1964. On the wings of Angels, the Lord called he
home to eternal rest on June 25,2018.
Yvonne was affectionately known as "Aunt Von". As a child She thoroughly enjoyedNowiog
with her siblings Kimberly, Carmen Jr., Thevella, Anastacia, Hope, her cousins, and her b~
friends, the Lee Sisters. Yvonne collected porcelain dolls, loved 1UpUSement ~s, ~.bikl
riding and swimming.
Yvonne received her education from Alexaooer Hamiltoit ElementarY S-chool, cakTertOD. J,r.. Hi
and later graduated from Fairmount Hill Vocational High School in 1983.

Aunt Yvonne was kno~ b~*too tight, applying too much water and grease t
your scalp, her famous fried chicken and delicious spaghetti. She was every child's dedicated aur
and was passionate about the wellbeing of children.
In 1998 Yvonne accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and joined The Pentecostal Church (
Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Marie Brice. Yvonne later joined Kingdom Life Chllt£
under the leadership of Pastor Michael Phillips and Dr. Anita Phillips. She served on the evangelisi
team, sang on the church choir and was a faithful, dedicated member. Yvonne loved The Lord.
In 2000 Yvonne decided to embark on a new career path with Union Baptist Head Start where sh
obtained her Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) and worked as a teacher's.
for 13 years. In 2014, Yvonne received a promotion and began working at Mt Vernon Place
Learning Center, where she remained an enthusiastic teacher's assistant until her passing.
Yvonne was a loving, kind and generous person with a giving and caring personality who mao
friends wherever she went. She expressed a tremendous amount of love as well as affection j
everybody. Her home was a unique place where her family and friends would gather for holiday
The holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving, were very special to her. She always assiste
her' mother wi1h cooking and made it a tradition to bum the cookies and dinner rolls every holiday.
Yvonne valued spenaing quality time with her mother to whom she was also a caregiver. S1
worked limitlessly to ensure that her mother lived a happy. healthy and comfortable life. They We]
the inseparable dynamic duo. Yvonne utterly missed her after she passed. They spent everyds
together watching classic movies such as "Imitation of Life", "Cooley High" and "The Bad Seed
Yvonne's favorite movies included "Mahogany", "Crooklyn" and "Pretty Woman". She treasun
going out with her family to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July and watching the Raven's game
with loved ones. She always hosted holiday cookouts and it tickled her to watch her great niec.
and nephew swim in the pool in her backyard.
Yvonne enjoyed traveling, shopping and eating with her sister, Thevella. They traveled to Ne
York City for Broadway shows and shopping. They especially liked Myrtle Beach, Dutch Count
and Disney W orld. They enjoyed dancing and hanging out with their friends at every opportunity.
Yvonne would shop for hours in the mall and spend every cent she had on toys and clothes for h
great nieces and nephew, Camora, ~Y and Noah. She endlessly loved her great nieces and nep
ews and spoiled them rotten. They often spent weeks with her and cried when they had to leave.
Our darling Yvonne was a proud, devoted and dedicated daughter. bonus mom, sister. aunt, gre
aunt, cousin and friend. She had an extra special bond wi1h her tllQ.ther sisters and great nieces aJ
nephew. Her love for each of them is everlasting. She will be sincerely missed by everyone b
never forgotten.
