On February 5, 2020, Janice Maria Barnes went home to be with the Lord. The only child of the late Fannie (Young) and Frank J. Moore, "Maria" was born on February 1, 1944 and raised in Baltimore, MD.
She attended and graduated from Baltimore public schools and, as an adult, received a certificate in accounting.
She worked at a variety of jobs over the course of her lifetime, but her primary and most cherished job was that of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family will miss her famous corn pudding, especially during the holidays. She enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family, dancing, a good card game, casino trips, science fiction and horror movies, and soap operas. She also loved serving on the usher board at her church, Created For So Much More Worship Center.
She is survived by her children, Veronica (Johnson) and her husband, Cliff Broverman, Denise Dorsey, Douglas Dorsey, Bryan Dorsey, Ronald Barnes Jr., Janine (Barnes) and her husband, Leon Jackson, stepson, Malcolm Barnes; grandchildren, Denise Garrett, Douglas Dorsey Jr., Alex Dixon, Bryan Dorsey Jr., Desire Dorsey, Brittany Dorsey, Jermal Meeks, Will Rose, Ronald Barnes III. Sa'Myire Barnes, Bryson Barnes, Shawn Barnes, Briona Barnes, Syiah Jackson, Elaina Barnes, Johnathon Barnes; great grandchildren, Moncier Dorsey, De'ashia Dorsey, Dez'mon Kimbrough, Autumn Washington, baby Jermaine Washington Jr., Shina Hughes, Will Rose, Jr.; cousins, extended family and friends. She is also survived by her husbands, Fred Dorsey and Ronald Barnes. She is predeceased by her daughter, Elaine Barnes.
